HONKY TONK LIVE is a radio show featuring country, blues, rockabilly, roots-rock and live music.
The show was first aired in 1999 on Radio G! a community radio station in Angers, France. At that time, the radio show featured new country, alt-country and any other musical form rooted in country-music. Since 2005, HONKY TONK LIVE has been broadcast from Tübingen, Germany on Radio Wüste Welle and has enlarged the range of styles from new and old country, to blues, rockabilly and their related trends like cow-punk, from the most traditional to the most alternative, between folk feeling and rock’n'roll attitude.
Right from the records or live in the radio studio, electric or unplugged, the music is always played with primitive twang and pulse.
In HONKY TONK LIVE you can listen to music barely airplayed in Europe or on the US mainstream stations : Dwight Yoakam, Hank Williams, Junior Parker, Johnny Cash, Stray Cats, Muddy Waters, John Fogerty, Robert Johnson, Eddie Cochran, Merle Haggard, Elmore James, George Jones, Elvis, the Johnny Burnette Trio, Charlie Feathers, the Cramps, Dale Watson, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Arthur Crudup, Junior Brown and many more, as well as european bands and performers bearing the twang torch.
